Patreon Website Redesign

In 2023, Patreon set out to redesign its website to align with its new product and app offerings. This was an exciting opportunity to partner with Patreon, as they're one of the leading brands that prioritize creator empowerment - with over 250,000 creators and 8 million fans active each month.

Our team worked in tandem with Patreon to determine a new design system and outline the user flow of the site, showcasing creators, feature offerings, pricing plans, and resources. Following the new design principles, we honed in on how to make the site unexpected for users in a delightful way, ensure that the messaging and POV is intentional and effective to the audience, and reflect the context of the creator/space/medium it shows up in.

In addition, our team had to work with an entirely new tech stack to follow the guidelines and requirements of Patreon’s technical framework. Working with Vercel hosting, Next.js application, Strapi CMS configuration and setup, while minimizing the use of Active Theory’s proprietary code (Hydra) for ease of future maintenance.

We oversaw a successful relaunch in October 2023, where the site was available in 19 languages and achieved the brand’s goals for a new look & feel that matches their new creative direction.
